We're the pioneers of a staggeringly effective program that creates positive dialogue across all demographics, generations, and geography through collaborations between veterans and civilians. This isn't something we're shooting for. We've done this four times already and are working on the 5th.
Here's what we do:
We interview veterans and those effected by them. They can say whatever they would care to about their experiences, however they would care to say them.
We then hand those interviews to writers that create an original work inspired by that interview, but conveyed through their own voice. They also have access to speak with the veteran directly.
We then hand the written work, as well as access to what's been collected, to civilian artists, who then create an original work inspired by that access.
After everything is collected, we begin our touring, where the art is accompanied by a QR code that sends you to a web page with the full story, the artist statement, and a voice over so that you can listen to the story while viewing the artwork.
We've shown to roughly 60,000 people to date.
