The Lake Murray Symphony Orchestra is an all-volunteer community orchestra made up of accomplished amateur and semi-professional musicians from the greater Columbia area. Our members, who range in age from 17 to 93, come from many varied professions including professors, teachers, doctors, nurses, engineers, retirees, and students. By providing free admission to all of our concerts, the LMSO makes live professional-level symphonic music available to all people regardless of socio-economic background. The LMSO performs four regular season Sunday afternoon concerts per year at the Harbison Theatre in Irmo as well as other venues. The LMSO also encourages the growth of young musical talent by hosting a Young Artist Competition each year for area high school students.
