Newberry County Humane Society

About this Organization

Our two major programs are providing affordable spay/neuter options through our website and fostering for rescues. Under our Fix-a-Pit initiative, pitbull and pit mixes are fixed for free. In 2024, through our program, 200 animals were spayed/neutered. The impact is exponential. For every animal spayed/neutered, 6-8 puppies or kittens are not born. Each one of them could have six to eight babies. It continues for each generation. For example, using litters of seven, over 340 puppies or kittens would be born in three generations. Our foster/rescue program requires spay/neuter of all puppies as well. This prevents them from having litters and contributing to the alarming rate of overpopulation. Shelters are often full, which means animals are euthanized for space. Our programs are crucial to addressing this tragic, heart-breaking issue. We are not affiliated with the Humane Society of the United States or APSCA and receive no funds from them. Our organization relies solely on donations and fundraisers to carry out our mission. We have no paid staff or physical facility. Donations go directly to funding the programs.
