Orangeburg County Community of Character

About this Organization

OCCOC promotes and recognizes character excellence and awareness through initiatives and programs that empower the youth, citizens, families, and communities in Orangeburg County. We work with all segments of the community and other non-profits to develop and promote the importance of ethical values and positive character traits not just with our youth but with the community at large to build and foster a strong and vibrant community where "Character Matters." Some of our programs include: -The 5th-grade Character Awards Program: a signature program that brings together all 5th-graders in Orangeburg County for a fun day of character messaging and recognition. -Recognize the Character Trait of the Month in schools and community. -Citizen of the Month recognition is awarded to individuals nominated for displaying the character trait of the month. Additionally, we recognize athletes who exhibit exceptional character. - An essential service is our Character Care Closet, a community kindness mission where kindness meets needs. -Young Leaders in the Making is a mentoring program for 4th and 5th grades that teaches the fundamentals of character and leadership. - Champion of Character recognizes outstanding leaders and businesses that demonstrate and promote a commitment to character excellence and service. We believe the best way to inspire others is by demonstrating the desired outcome. OCCOC strives to bring a brand and identity to Orangeburg County that "Character Matters."
