Now in existence since 2017, the Palmetto Foundation for Prevention and Recovery (PFPR) continues to strive to expand its programs and offerings to the community. The PFPR was founded in memory of Chase Loveless after his life was taken by the opioid epidemic at the age of 23. His death was our call to action, and no one should have to endure the unimaginable pain of burying their child.
The PFPR provides school-wide assemblies and resources to help youth recognize the dangers of substance use and prevent overdose deaths. Students are deeply engaged as they listen to real-life testimony and hear the importance of decision-making and risks.
We provide the community with free Narcan dispensers to prevent overdose deaths.
In addition, we provide free Chase Loveless Empowerment Camps for youth ages 7 to 17 with past collegiate and NFL players. Our football/basketball camps provide coaches and mentors, lunch, and t-shirts.
Our partnership with Lex-Rich School District 5, the Irmo Chapin Recreation Commission, and the Midlands Mechanical Apprentice Coalition provides in-school mentors, after-school activities, life coaching, summer programs, and paid apprenticeship opportunities.
