SC Thrive is a nonprofit organization created to help families navigate the complex systems of available benefits from food security and health care, to rent assistance, financial wellness and more. We are a dynamic organization committed to partner development and support and serving the citizens of South Carolina. The organization continues to connect people to resources and empower community benefit organizations across the state. SC Thrive offers innovative programs, initiatives, and a growing array of services to meet the needs of South Carolinians and help them thrive.
At SC Thrive, we want to help people access what they need to be physically, mentally, and financially healthy. People in need want to care for themselves and their families and to flourish. Community partners want to help their clients reach their goals and develop their skills. Service providers want their patients to have access to care and resources that will help them succeed.
SC Thrive meets people where they are to provide innovative access to resources, training, and technology. From 2010 to 2024, SC Thrive and our partners have brought back over $1 Billion to over 500,000 South Carolinians in the form of tax refunds and work supports. We work to ensure that all South Carolinians have access to the benefits and resources that they need so that we can Thrive Together!
More about SC Thrive's current initiatives:
Contact Center: Our Benefits Counselors ensure that South Carolinians can apply for Healthy Connections Medicaid, SNAP, Welvista Medication Assistance Program, Long-Term Care and other benefits, as well as helping set up tax filing appointments, finding community resources, and so much more, all in one phone call. Serving each caller with compassion and empathy, our Contact Center agents responded to 127,500 inbound calls in 2023. We also continued offering resources and services in Spanish, including translation.
Thrive Hub: Imagine a social care tool that goes beyond just applications. A tool that truly allows those in need to find hope. This is the goal we have continually worked toward since launching Thrive Hub in 2019. In the last five years we have seen overwhelmed case managers lacking support become empowered to help clients with compassion. We have seen clients gain hope for the future because of the multiple resources they can easily access all at once through Thrive Hub.
Outreach: Our Outreach Team members are dedicated to bridging the gap between available benefits and the individuals who may benefit from them. Recognizing that many people are unaware of the vast array of resources accessible to them, our committed team actively engages in information dissemination and education. We proactively participate in community events and collaborate with other organizations to maximize our outreach efforts, ensuring that we reach as many individuals as possible. By fostering awareness and knowledge, we empower our community members to access the support and resources they need for a brighter future.
Training: Our training team is committed to empowering individuals and organizations with the knowledge and skills essential for personal and professional growth. Our dedicated team designs and delivers comprehensive training programs tailored to meet the evolving needs of our community. Topics such as financial literacy, taxes, Long-Term Care, Healthy Connections Medicaid, Healthy Connections Prime, SNAP and other benefits are all offerings that are available to organizations and agencies. Our team also offers a Poverty Simulation training that is an immersive experience that provides participants with a firsthand understanding of the challenges faced by individuals in need. Through these simulations, we strive to foster empathy, awareness, and a deeper appreciation for the complexities surrounding poverty.
Mental Health First Aid: The importance of continuing to support mental health in 2023 was paramount. Our MHFA instructors facilitated more than 33 MHFA trainings which allowed over 622 individuals to receive MHFA certifications. We also hosted 7 self-care trainings, helping over 100 people reduce toxic stress in the workplace and at home.
