About this Organization
Mission and Purpose:
The Brookland-Lakeview Empowerment Center (BLEC) is a major initiative of the Brookland Center for Community Economic Change (BCCEC), a non-profit organization with the mission of mobilizing support of health, education and economics to improve the quality of life for the citizens of the area.
Existence and Core Services:
Since 2004, the BLEC has provided a wide range of health, education and socio-economic empowerment programs that benefit low-to-moderate income families in the community. BLEC serves over 25,000 individuals annually through its various programs and services to include academic enrichment programs, mental health first aid training, workforce development training and support, case management services, historic preservation support, pedestrian training, and food distribution programs.
