Every day, children across Richland, Lexington, and Fairfield Counties come to school to learn - but too often the stress of their home life or the barriers they experience in the classroom make it difficult to succeed. CISSC uses an evidence-based model of Integrated Student Supports - a program that utilizes school-based coordinators to support each student's unique needs and connect them to existing community resources so they can overcome barriers and focus on learning.
The purpose of CISSC's program is to identify and address complex risk and protective factors that influence a child's academic success and can impact their ability to remain in school. Our program meets students' immediate basic needs like food, clothing and shelter through partnerships while also providing direct services for more complex needs like counseling and social emotional support. By working with the local community, we provide students with the support they need to succeed inside and outside the classroom - helping them graduate.
