About this Organization

Since 1977, DRSC has protected and advocated for the rights of people with disabilities in South Carolina. DRSC core services include legal representation, information and referral, training, abuse and neglect investigations, and advocacy for policy change. In the fiscal year 2022-2023: 1307 people received information and referral services 73 people received short term assistance 312 people received legal assistance 1413 people trained on disability rights topics 51 in person and virtual trainings across the state 45 investigations into complaints of serious abuse and neglect conducted 62 facilities and institutions monitoring visits 72 reviews of representative payees for social security completed 92 inspections of Community Residential Care Facilities
