The Humane Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
About this Organization
The Humane Society is one of many animal welfare groups in the Southeast, all of which play a vital role in addressing the animal welfare issues we face. While the resolution to each of these issues is a worthy endeavor, The Humane Society identifies with only two: animal cruelty and animal overpopulation. The mistreatment of animals and the euthanasia of healthy, adoptable animals are unacceptable and must be put to an end.
These funds will help the HSPCA end animal cruelty, neglect, and overpopulation by offering low cost spay and neuter surgeries and assisting in reports of animal cruelty. We also offer a program to help manage colonies of feral cats. The Humane Society initiated the Urban Cats Program in 2007 in an effort designed to advocate for a more humane solution for our region's stray and feral cat population. Our TNR program is established to control the population issue in our community and to reduce the number of local ferals and ultimately the number of cats housed in overcrowded shelters. We promote responsible pet ownership and offer presentations regarding humane animal care.
