Kershaw County Habitat believes the primary foundation of families and neighborhoods is affordable homeownership. We advocate for affordable homeownership in these ways: 1. Expand supply of affordable housing through the construction of affordable homes. 2. Equitability increase access to credit by manually underwriting mortgages within the Habitat office. 3. Optimize land use for affordable houses by accepting donated land as residential housing lots. 4. Ensure access to and development of communities of opportunity by constructing houses close to social services, including public transportation. 5. Sustainment of affordable housing by educating homeowners on personal finance through a 9 week personal finance and homeownership course.
