Palmetto Trail

About this Organization

The Palmetto Trail consists of passages which connect the mountains to the sea, one of only 16 cross- state trails in the country. Ten of the Palmetto Trail's passages are in the Midlands Region, passing through urban areas (Capital City Passage) and the very rural (Wateree Passage). The Trail's 380 completed miles are built as a series of passages that connect private and public lands, including parks, forests, towns, cities, countryside and historic sites-e.g. the State Capital and Sumter Junction in Wateree Swamp.
