St. Martin de Porres Catholic School is a fully accredited, co-ed, elementary Catholic School in Columbia, SC. SMDPS educates students from Pre-Kindergarten -4th grade. SMDPS welcomes students of all faiths and backgrounds. Our early childhood program is child-centered and developmentally appropriate. It is designed to encourage each child's active participation, addressing their individual readiness and inspiring differentiated learning experiences through exploration and discovery. St. Martin de Porres Catholic School's elementary curriculum focuses on language arts, math, social sciences critical thinking, and cross-curricular writing . Students are able to strengthen knowledge or skills in these areas through classroom, technology, and online resources. The curriculum is designed to be academically challenging, developmentally appropriate, and in alignment with National, State, and Diocesan Standards. It is based on the knowledge that students can become lifelong and self- reflective learners who grow in both intellectual wisdom and spiritual grace when taught in an atmosphere of respect, responsibility, and religious awareness. We are creating a primary Montessori call in the fall and plan to add lower elementary and upper elementary classes in the next two years.
