The Free Medical Clinic provides primary care, specialty care, and prescription medications to persons who are uninsured and whose household income is at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. All services are provided at no cost to the patient. We provide access medical services to access care through a source other than the local hospital systems. By providing this service, the Clinic has a positive impact on the population health of the Midlands region and beyond.
In 2023, we provided care to 1,015 unique patients through over 4,400 visits. Our on-site pharmacy dispensed 20,806 prescriptions, with a wholesale value of over $2.1M. We are partnering with the USC School of Medicine on a diabetic education initiative to influence positive lifestyle and health changes with Type 2 diabetic patients; the goal is to lower patients A1C to non-diabetic range. Additionally, we have an AmeriCorps community health worker that is working with our diabetic and hypertensive patients on medication compliance and overcoming barriers to obtaining health care.
This year we are raising funds to support patient care and Clinic operations.
