New Day Transitional Housing has served 300 families, and provided rental assistance, deposits, and emergency shelter. We are currently serving 20 residents in 4 transitional shelter locations. Vehicle Access Network has provided over 18,900 rides to work and social service needs. Mobile Nutrition Center distributed over 700,000 pounds of food, feeding more than 71,000 residents in all of Kershaw County. Summer Food Program provided over 50,000 meals and snacks to children. Community Gardens has 8 locations with over 69 raised beds. Food grown goes to the underserved. Ready Readers serves over 300 students, placing tutors in all 9 elementary schools. The goal is to have students read on grade level. YHDP is a new program for homeless youth ages 17-24. Currently serving 14 youth offering housing and life skills. Homeless Outreach has assisted over 26 people with a stable recovery from drugs and alcohol. Fresh Start mobile unit provides showers and laundry services to over 50 Kershaw County residents every month.
